I never thought of myself as much of a blogger but I’ve come to the conclusion that I am long past due with writing. In my elementary years I had detested writing, it was agonizing trying to string together one coherent sentence let alone a paragraph. The right words were hard to come by and when they decided to saunter by… well let’s just say my mind couldn’t grasp them in time to comprehend and use them accordingly. It wasn’t until my years in high school did I start to appreciate the mass variety of the English vocabulary amidst the chaos within my life. Writing had transformed from an inaccessible art to a myriad of colors that could be maneuvered and placed on a blank canvas.
So one may be asking, how and why is this relevant to blogging and current life? Well to briefly summarize my life in the past month… I left California and came to Egypt to start my first semester as a MA student. Having already been in Egypt in Spring 2009 I assumed the transition this time around would be relatively simple… However, between the sexual harassment, monotonous classes, and various other inconveniences that have decided to simultaneously occurred, I have decided that writing is a MUST in order to retain my sanity. It should also be noted that I do truly miss writing as it is a means for my meandering mind to comprehend the world around me. I suppose that’s my drug of choice, writing, to write the world into some form of comprehension that can be revisited and pondered over time.
With that, let the days of writing commence…
